Solid in almost every way, PokerRoom.com finds itself near the top of most review lists. With excellent graphics on display through its downloadable software, it also offers a pretty decent Java version that allows you to get going without any wait. The room's program features smooth, fast load times, an attractive design and universal compatibility - working well with PC, Mac and Linux-based platforms. And its promos (always a big deal for the folks here at GP) range from respectable to downright impressive – one, for instance, pays $5,000 (CAD) if you land a royal flush.
As for action, PokerRoom.com ranks in the top tenth of online-poker pads. Much of this is centered on its Holdem tables. But its Five-Card Draw and Seven-Card Stud tables are also usually so hot it’s hard to find an open seat at Sit-n’-Gos past $5-50.
Surprisingly, the only game at Poker Room that doesn’t seem to have drawn much attention is Omaha. Occasionally a limit table in this line will open up, but high- or no-limit Omaha tables at P.R. are scarcer than sweat on a dog’s nose.
Among the room's best bonuses are a pair of daily $1,000 freerolls - and, as anyone who's had some experience with online play can tell you, a cool grand in the freeroll department is nothing to sneeze at.
Poker Room also offers a 50 percent-matching sign-up bonus (up $300), loyalty bonuses, a low minimum-deposit requirement and a competitive player-points program – all of which make the site arguably the banginest bang for your buck in the whole industry.
This isn't to say, however, that PokerRoom.com doesn't have its flaws. It used to be slightly sub-par, and as such, it’s had to fight a negative reputation. Because of this, it doesn't usually pull in as many players as its competitors.
The above steps in the right direction, however, have succeeded in drawing more folks to its ring games and tournaments, regularly attracting about 3,000 ring-gamers and about 11,000 tourney goers by recent estimates.
All this is to say that, while PokerRoom.com used to suffer from quite a few shortcomings, it has caught up to the pack and added to the attraction with some really sweet bonuses. For this reason alone we're willing to give it a respectable 8.86 and suggest it to anyone who likes getting a good deal while having an enjoyable poker experience.
