Although a relative newcomer in the online-poker world, RedKings has all the makings of becoming a hit. As part of the OnGame Network, this poker room not only features a sound software package but is also part of a well-established network that enjoys a good bit of traffic. Its software is über fast and features smooth transitions from one screen to the next. So, while the programs of lesser poker rooms can often have you waiting several seconds between hands, RedKings' dealers shoot out cards to eager players, leaving your opponents no time to boohoo the bad beats you just delivered.
RedKings also boasts a fair variety of games, including Texas Holdem, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo and Five Card Draw. Standard no-limit, pot-limit and fixed-limit games are also part of the package, as are long- and short-hand options and a rather unique heads-up setting.
Table limits, meanwhile, are extraordinarily broad, ranging from $0.10-0.20 (USD) to $1,000-2,000. As a result, RedKings has attracted a remarkable amount of attention, hosting up to 6,900 ring-gamers and 30,000 tournament players.
Considering the variety of games the room has to offer, the strength of the software and the range of its limit settings, its slightly above-average rake can be considered fair as can its average maximum bet of $3 per pot.
RedKings' promotions should be enough to get any player's motor humming, with a $50 refer-a-friend bonus and deposit bonuses up to $1,000. The inside track to getting your hands on the biggest of these sign-ups is simply playing a lot of poker. Upon depositing, each player chooses between three 100 percent sign-ups: up to $250, up to $500 or up to $1,000. Each requires a different number of points before it unlocks, with the bigger bonuses naturally requiring more points.
Points are divvied out at a 1-1 ratio – so for every 10-cent rake a player generates, he gets one-tenth of a point. At the end of a player’s first month, the site tallies up his points, and if he has enough, he gets his selected bonus. Otherwise, it’s tough luck and farewell, free cash.
All in all, then, RedKings is everything you'd expect from a good poker site, presenting a clean, crisp poker experience and offering some stellar perks – and all the while still being a newb. It just hasn't shown us the "wow" factor yet and until it does, we here at GP Poker have to award it only slightly little less than two thumbs up: something like, say, 1 4/5 of a thumb – which is either a visit to the hospital or a healthy 8.7 rating.
